I bought this machine about 6 months ago to replace my old bread maker. I was a little nervous about some of the claims and hoped that I would not require customer service if I did purchase it...just in case its as bad as some say. Fortunately, the one I got was not a lemon. I admit, when I took it out of the box I thought I might have ordered a reconditioned one, as it was scratched and it didn't look "brand new". But the pieces did look new and well packaged, so I wiped down the outside and used it anyway. I haven't been disappointed at all. There were some who said you can't stop a cycle...yes you can. Hold down the power button until it beeps and shuts off. If you just try to turn it off or unplug it, it will hold the program in its memory. The warming mode cooks, so you CAN cook your own mix, contrary to some claims...although, unless you just don't want to heat up your kitchen, you might as well just pour your mix in a bread pan if you didn't use the maker to mix it. If you need to add things, pay attention to the cycle times and it is easy to do...I read reviews saying you couldn't tell what point to add. I listen to when it is mixing and, therefore, know when it is rising. The timer shows you the elapse of time, so once you run a cycle, you know exactly when its going to do what. It really isn't that hard but you do have to be interested in what you are doing. I use it almost daily, so I'm pretty comfortable with its functions and, quite frankly, either accidentally or through trial and error, I can do pretty much anything I want with it. Its very versatile. I use the pasta setting a lot for dough that doesn't need to rise and for, of course, pasta dough and it works like a charm. I was a little bummed at first because one of the paddles consistently got "stuck" and wouldn't come off for cleaning, but I ran hot water in the pan to dislodge it and that worked...it comes off easily when I just run a little water in it before I pull it off. This is really a nice product that does what it says it does and I have more than gotten my money's worth out of it. It makes pasta dough and while I make pasta, it prepares my next loaf of bread...saves me a lot of time and the double paddle does make a difference...I don't get the flour residue on the side that I used to get sometimes with my single paddle model. It does hog counter space, but that's just how it goes if you want a 3 pound bread maker with double paddles. It's very easy to clean, and works predictably, consistently, and remains versatile. I gave it 5 stars because it does exactly what the company says it does, is reliable, cleans well, and what few doubts I've had about it have been more than compensated for in performance...and bread makers work hard in my kitchen.
